Livissi at Asia Minor
Byzantine Spolia
Petros Mechtidis

Levisi of Asia Minor is an important Greek settlement that was abandoned after 1922. The dozens of architectural members that are embedded in churches and houses are clear signs of habitation during the Byzantine period and continuous reuse of the building material of earlier churches lost today. In this article I will deal with the second-hand architectural members I have identified during my visits to the village. I will then refer to the study of spolia and of architectural members that have been identified in Asia Minor since the 19th century and in the publications of foreign scholars.
